CultureEnter Istanbul’s Industrial Past at the Anchor Foundry
Start at Rahmi M. Koç Museum, Turkey’s first industrial museum, opened in 1994. The Lengerhane building is an 18th-century anchor foundry standing on 12th-century Byzantine foundations, and the 1861 Hasköy Shipyard joined the museum in 2001. The collection holds more than 14,000 objects, making this a powerful introduction to the Golden Horn’s industrial story.

ArtFind the Weaving Hall Inside the Fez Factory
Visit Artİstanbul Feshane, where a former Ottoman fez factory became a contemporary art venue. Feshane was founded in 1827 in Kadırga for fez production, moved to Eyüp in 1833, and turned into a full textile factory with steam engines in 1843. The only major surviving structure, the weaving hall, reopened to contemporary art after its 2020–23 restoration.

HistoryLower Your Voice in the Courtyard of the Complex
Walk to Eyüp Sultan Mosque, where faith and imperial history meet. Mehmed the Conqueror commissioned a külliye here soon after the conquest, and according to the foundation charter the mosque was completed in 1458–59. At its center is the tomb of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad. The complex originally included the mosque, tomb, madrasa, imaret, and bath, while the present structure was rebuilt from 1798 to 1800.
