NatureEnter the Tree Tunnel
Start the climb in Validebağ Grove, one of the few large wooded areas preserved within Üsküdar. The paths run beneath dense trees, and even in midsummer the temperature shift is noticeable the moment you step inside. This is where the day’s uphill route begins.

HistorySee the Pavilion Inside the Grove
Visit Adile Sultan Pavilion in the middle of the grove, a reminder that this area once belonged to palace gardens. The building is now generally used for educational purposes and is usually closed inside, but its façade and the open flat area in front still explain why the grove was planned at this scale.

PhotographyDo a Viewpoint Rehearsal on the Smaller Hill
Head to Küçük Çamlıca Hill, a quieter hill that shares the same panorama as its bigger neighbor. The crowds are noticeably lighter here, and between the pine trees you get your first broad view of the Bosphorus and the Marmara Sea. It’s the perfect place to test the horizon before the main summit.

PhotographyScan the City from 268 Metres
Reach Büyük Çamlıca Hill, considered the highest point in the city at 268 metres above sea level. From here you can see the Marmara Sea, the Princes’ Islands, the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus, and much farther on clear days. Since the 1980s, the summit has been arranged with gardens, pergolas, and viewing areas.

ArtFrame the Horizon from the Courtyard
Continue to Çamlıca Mosque, where the courtyard frames the view through architecture: domes and minarets in the foreground, the Bosphorus behind. The scale of the building only becomes clear once you enter the courtyard, and the interior height feels greater than it appears from outside.

PhotographyFace the Bridge from Below
Finish the day at Nakkaştepe National Garden, a broad garden overlooking the Bosphorus and the bridge. In the morning you saw the whole city from 268 metres; here the elevation drops, but the view comes closer, and the bridge is no longer a line on the horizon but a structure directly in front of you. The contrast between the two perspectives sums up the day.
