Stop at the Last House Before Samsun

Visit the İBB Atatürk Museum, where Mustafa Kemal stayed from December 1918 until 16 May 1919, the day he left from here to board the steamer to Samsun. The municipality bought the building in 1928 and opened it as a museum in 1942. A rented house became a museum: the first transformation on this avenue starts here.

Look at the Clock of the Emptied Hospital

Pause outside the Şişli Etfal clock tower and small mosque, the remains of a hospital commissioned by Abdülhamid II in 1899 after his daughter Hatice Sultan died of diphtheria. It became Turkey's first children's hospital. Ten pavilions were connected by telegraph wires to the central duty doctor's room. The institution moved to Seyrantepe in 2021, leaving the clock tower and mosque behind.

Enter the Factory That Was Demolished and Rebuilt

Step into PİLEVNELİ Mecidiyeköy, in the rebuilt Liquor Factory. In 1931, leading French modernist architect Robert Mallet-Stevens designed a liqueur and cognac factory here, his only industrial building realized abroad. The factory was demolished in 2012, reconstructed almost exactly from archive photographs, and reopened as a gallery in 2018. Is this building the same building?

Count the Towers on the Stadium Site

Stand at Torun Center, where Ali Sami Yen Stadium stood from 1945 to 2011. Galatasaray had leased the land from the state for one lira per year. The last match was played on 11 January 2011, demolition began in April, and the club moved to Seyrantepe. In its place now rise two residential towers and one office tower.
